Bonnie Stewart

Bonnie Rae Stewart of Davison, age 89, died Sunday December 12, 2021 at her residence. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon Wednesday December 22, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 404 Dayton St. Davison; Fr Andrew A. Czajkowski, Celebrant with burial to follow in St. John Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 2-6 pm Tuesday at the funeral home with a parish rosary being prayed at 6:00 pm. Mrs. Stewart will lay in state at the church from 11:00 am Wednesday until time of service. Those desiring may make contributions in Bonnie’s memory to Outreach East.

Bonnie was born in Flint Michigan on January 12, 1932 the daughter of the late Thomas & Isabelle (Hatfield) Bishop and has resided in the Davison area most of her life. Bonnie was a graduate of Flint Central High School Class of 1950, and also attended Michigan State University.  She was joined in marriage to Arthur “Art” Stewart on October 1, 1955 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church and he preceded her in death on September. 4,2009. Bonnie was a member of the Davison Athletic Club for many years and during that time became part of the Water Aerobics’ Group, enjoying swimming  several times of the week until her last years. Bonnie was a member of the Genesee County MSU Master Gardeners, and spent numerous hours volunteering for programs that included Grow Labs in the schools. She also spent hours working in her own gardens at home and had a list of her own perennials which were part of the family for three generations’. Bonnie was an avid sports enthusiast who loved the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Pistons, and especially her alma mater MSU.   She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Davison, and had been employed by St. Joseph Hospital until her retirement. Bonnie also was employed by Davison High School in the cafeteria in the 1970’s.

Surviving are children: Shelly and husband Ed Roberts, and Donald and wife Anne Stewart. She also leaves her loving grandchildren; Sara (Chuck) Singer, Katelyn (Kyle) Cawley, Eddie Roberts, Andy Roberts, and Stacey (John) Joinville, loving great grandchildren Anthony Singer, Oliver Singer, Ellie Mae Joinville, and her faithful dog and companion Francis.
