Bruce was born on July 2, 1964, in Detroit, Michigan to Willis H. and Patricia M. Gepfrey. He was the 6th of 9 children. In 1970, the family moved to Lapeer, Michigan. Bruce attended Bishop Kelley Memorial School and graduated from Lapeer West High School in 1982. In 1982, Bruce met and began dating Melissa Hicks. They were married on May 19, 2001, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Davison, Michigan. They welcomed, loved and raised two children together, Willis Henry II and Tennison Jean. His children were his world. Bruce was so proud of his “Marine Son”, and his very own “Daddy’s Little Girl”, who spent every waking hour she could with him. Bruce was employed at Wally Edgar Chevrolet in Lake Orion, Michigan for the past 15 years. No one could wheel and deal a new or used car like Bruce. He had a reputation for his outstanding work ethic and integrity, both at work, and in his personal life. He was known by all for his brutal honesty, quick wit and sarcasm.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Melissa Gepfrey, son, Willis Gepfrey II and daughter, Tennison Gepfrey, as well as his parents, Willis and Patricia Gepfrey, siblings, Michael (Robin) Gepfrey, Dennis (Camille) Gepfrey, Sheryl Johnson, Karen Peasley, Luann (Kevin) Magolan, Marianne (Chris) Bolton, and Pamela Gepfrey, brother-in-law, Craig Dahlke, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless lifelong friends. Bruce was preceded in death by his oldest sister, Christine Dahlke, nephew, Joshua Johnson, brothers-in-law, David Peasley and Ernie Johnson, as well as his father-in-law and mother-in law, Joe and Ethel Hicks.
Visitation will be from 4-8PM Wednesday, August 31, 2022, and 1-4/6-8PM Thursday, September 1, 2022, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home, Lapeer. The Rosary will be prayed at 7PM Thursday evening. Bruce’s funeral Mass will be celebrated 12PM Friday, September 2, 2022, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Davison. Father Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Bruce’s family will receive friends from 11AM-12PM at church the morning of Mass.
