CRESWELL, Caroline (Cernoia) – of Davison, MI, age 82, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at Grand Blanc Fields. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 AM Tuesday, September 10, 2019 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Cremation will follow the Mass. Inurnment will be at St. John Catholic Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 PM Monday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison and one hour prior to the Mass on Tuesday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed 5:30 PM Monday.
Caroline was born in Detroit, MI on October 7, 1936, daughter of the late Frank and Johanna (Kampenski) Cernoia. She graduated from St. Elizabeth High School in 1954 and from Mercy School of Nursing in 1957. Caroline married George Creswell at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Detroit on February 7, 1959 and he preceded her in death after 51 years of marriage on November 3, 2010. She practiced nursing in Virginia, Washington, D.C. and Ohio before working at Beyer Hospital in Ypsilanti, MI where she rose from Staff Nurse to Director of Nursing in twenty-five years, retiring in 1997. Caroline taught Licensed Practical Nursing at both Beyer and at McPherson Hospital in Howell, MI. In addition to her nursing education, she received both B.S. and M.A. degrees from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI. Caroline was a member of Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society, RHO Chapter, University of Michigan as well as Phi Delta Kappa and Phi Kappa Phi at Eastern Michigan University. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Davison, MI.
Caroline is survived by her three children, George (Susan) Creswell, Elizabeth (David) Gomon and James (Tracy) Creswell; seven loving grand-children, Kimberly, Lindsay, Christine Creswell, Samuel and Rachel Gomon, David and Sarah Creswell; sisters, Clarice (Mike) Byrd; sisters-in-law Jan Creswell of Tecumseh, MI and Carol Creswell of New York; brother-in-law, Edward Creswell of Texas; many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends. She was preceded in death by her sister, Theresa; brother, Frank; brother-in-law, Claude Creswell; sister-in-law, Cynthia Creswell.
