Connie Montpas

Connie was born in Flint, Michigan on March 20, 1940, to Donald and Ardis (Schiestel) Mathis. She graduated from Holy Redeemer High School in 1958 and went on to attend Flint Junior College, graduating with an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts. She married her high school sweetheart and best friend, Michael Montpas on November 7, 1959.

She was a resident of Grand Blanc for most of her life. She lived in California while Mike was in the Navy, stationed in San Diego and San Francisco. Upon returning to Grand Blanc, she and Mike became the proud parents to Philip (Carolyn Herbruck) Montpas, and 2 daughters Lori (Roy) Miller and Vicki (Brian) Mullin. Her grandchildren Bryce (Ashley) Miller, Lexi Miller and Garrett Miller, Tyler (Samantha) and Mitchell (Kristen) Montpas, Brooke Mullin and Lance Mullin all meant the world to her. She really enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in any sport, rain or shine.

Connie retired from the Grand Blanc Community Schools as the Medical Records Coordinator. She volunteered for March of Dimes, Right to Life and for over 30 years worked out of the volunteer office for St. Joseph and Genesys Hospital. She enjoyed reading, bowling, Pinochle and Bunco. Connie’s Catholic faith was very strong and provided her with great strength to meet all challenges in her life. Her rosary was always with her.

Connie leaves behind 3 sisters, Barbara (Jim) Blanchard, Katherine Harris, Susie (Steven) Baroski and a brother Jim (Judy Lufcy) Mathis. Her loving in-laws Charlie (Jackie) Montpas, Carl Montpas and Dick (Judy) Montpas. There was always a special place for her German family Ralf (Maria) Winter who was a foreign exchange student sponsored in 1978-79. Close friends Clara McLeod, Mary and Pat Simmonds, Alice Sides and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Michael, parents Donald and Ardis Mathis, in-laws Joseph and Hazel Montpas, sister in-laws Mary Montpas and Frances Hurd. Her dear friends James McLeod II, Jack and Sue VanKuren as well as other close friends and relatives.

A visitation for Connie will be held on Sunday, June 18, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hill Funeral Home – 11723 S. Saginaw Street, Grand Blanc, MI with a rosary service at 7:30 PM. On Monday, June 19, 2023, there will be a funeral mass for Connie at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church – 6340 Roberta St., Burton, MI at 12:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at Crestwood Cemetery, Grand Blanc, MI.
