SHURTER, Gertrude Caroline – of Davison, age 89, passed away on January 19, 2023. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1 PM Friday, January 27, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Cremation will take place following the Mass. Inurnment of cremated remains will take place at St. John Catholic Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive visitors from 12 PM until the time of the Mass on Friday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, in Gertrude’s memory.
Caroline was born in Bay City, MI on May 17, 1933, daughter of the late Emil and Gertrude (Zawacki) Dolezych. Caroline graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1951. She married Richard Shurter on October 18, 1952 and he preceded her in death on July 23, 2014. She was a long time member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Davison. Caroline enjoyed her trips to the casino, playing BINGO, fishing and traveling. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Caroline is survived by her children, Linda (Norman) DeBuck, Ross Shurter, Rick Shurter and Jeff Shurter; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by son, Thomas Shurter.
