BARGY, Merle Duane – of Flint, MI, age 93, passed away Monday, May 11, 2020 at Ascension Genesys Hospital. A Private Service was held with interment in Great Lakes National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, in Merle’s memory.
Merle was born in Flint, MI on May 30, 1926, son of the late Leo and Meryle (Allen) Bargy. He married Mary Lou Black on September 8, 1956 in Angola, Indiana and she preceded him in death on May 7, 2013. Merle proudly served his county during World War II in the U.S. Army from 1944-1946. He also served from 1950-1953 during the Korean War. Merle was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.
Merle is survived by 10 children, Michael Bargy, Dennis (Kim) Bargy, Susan (Dennis) McBride, Bethany (Roger) Hartwell, Scott (Insook) Bargy, Mark (JoAnn) Bargy, Nancy Verran, Patrick (Barbara) Bargy, Dwayne Bargy and Timothy (Denise) Bargy; 14 grandchildren, Heather Turnwald, Ginger Hartwell, Jennifer Hartwell, Brian Hartwell, Patrick Bargy, Jr., Sean Bargy, Jeremy Bargy, Brittany Lawler, Larry Verran, Lisa Smith, Gregory Wilson, Jason Bargy, Jeremy Bargy and Jeff Bargy; 5 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Virginia (Bill) Maygar and Sharon (Howard) Kohl; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Meryle Bargy; his loving wife, Mary Lou Bargy and brother, Robert Howell.
