Sheldon Lee Teachout

TEACHOUT, Sheldon Lee “Sonny” – of Genesee Township, age 83, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at his residence. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1 PM Monday, January 14, 2019 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Cremation will follow the Mass. Visitation will be 12-4 and 6-8 PM Sunday at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison and 12-1 PM Monday at the church. A Scripture Service will be held 6:30 PM Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Michigan Parkinson Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.

Sonny was born in Flint, MI on January 3, 1936, son of the late Adrian and Margaret (Snyder) Teachout. He married Barbara Stephany on September 15, 1956. Lee was part owner of Lee and Kens Grocery Store and he retired from GM in 1995 after 38 years of service. He was a member of UAW Local #659 as well as a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church and most recently of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Sonny liked spending time around campfires at Leisure Lake where he was the president of the p & m club as well as a board member from 1994-1996. He enjoyed deer hunting and playing poker with his friends but he especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Sonny is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Bill (Sherri) Teachout, Larry (Diep) Teachout, Stephanie (Todd) Bergeron, Dave (Tina) Teachout; granddaughter, Nichole Lawless; sister, Margaret Stange; brother-in-law, Emery Wacaser; many nieces and nephews; lifelong friends, Dennis and Barbara McManaman, Jim and Charlotte Beauchamp; special friends, Terry Watts and Bob Barham. In addition to his parents, Lee was preceded in death by his grandson, Derek Faxlanger; stepfather, Bill Wills; sister, Katherine Wacaser; brothers, Richard and Larry Teachout; brother-in-law, Ken Stange; sister-in-law, Aileen Barber; in-laws, Bill and Hazel Stephany; niece, Pam Stange; nephew, Cliff Waisanen; lifelong friend, Larry Denman.
