Theda Mae Dobis

Theda Mae Dobis, age 86, of Metamora, died Wednesday, August 25, 2021. She was born October 17, 1934 in Pulaski Twp., Michigan, to Bill and Hilda (Dewey) Butters.

Theda graduated from Homer High School in 1953. She married Francis “Frank” Dobis on May 12, 1956 in Marshall, Michigan. Theda enjoyed working the elections for Metamora Township, Metamora Village and Lapeer Schools. She was a longtime member of the St. Cornelius Catholic Church in Dryden. Theda was also a member of the Dryden Senior Adult Parishioners Society, a charter member of the Metamora Lioness Club, a member of the Metamora Lions Club Auxiliary and Suncrest Auxiliary. Mrs. Dobis worked for a number of insurance agents during her career, helping clients with Transamerica Insurance and State Farm Insurance. Theda was a Cub Scout Leader in Metamora, with the Tall Pines Council. Mrs. Dobis was a beloved wife, Mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Theda is survived by her children: Richard (Susan) Dobis of Lake Orion, Ronald (Brenda) Dobis of Davison, Renee Dobis of Metamora and Raymond Dobis of Attica; daughter-in-law: Sandy Bradley of Hadley; grandchildren: Jason (Heather), Andrew, Matthew, Katy, Karen, Michael and Kimberly; great-grandchildren: Audrey, Hunter, Zander and Jax; brother: LaVerne (Sandy) Butters of Arizona; in-laws: Wayne Swander of Indiana, Kathleen Butters of Florida and JoAnn Butters of Concord, MI; and many many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband: Frank Dobis; sons: Roger Dobis and infant Robert Dobis; parents: Bill and Hilda Butters; sister: Shirley Swander; and brothers: James Butters and Charles Butters.

Visitation for Mrs. Dobis will be 4-8PM Monday, August 30, 2021 at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. A scripture service will be prayed 7PM Monday at the funeral home. The funeral mass for Mrs. Dobis will be 12:00PM (Noon) Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison, MI 48423. The family will receive friends from 11-12PM Tuesday at the church. Father Wayne Ureel will officiate the Funeral Mass, followed by a luncheon and then burial will be 10AM Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at Maple Grove Cemetery in Concord, Michigan.
