BURCAR, Thomas G. – of Davison, MI, age 84, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023. A Funeral Mass, with military honors, will be held 1 PM Monday, May 8, 2023, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Cremation will take place following the Mass. The family will receive visitors from 4 to 7 PM Sunday, May 7, 2023, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Davison, MI 48423. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Monday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, St. John Catholic Church or WKAR Public Radio.
Thomas was born in Flint, MI on January 17, 1939, son of the late Julius and Helen (Skindzier) Burcar. Tom was a 1957 graduate of St. Mary’s Catholic High School in Flint. He married Nancy Faye Soderbloom on April 3, 1976, in Davison, Michigan. Thomas proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1962-1965. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Wayne State University and an associate degree from Flint Junior College. Tom retired from General Motors as a Head Chemist after many years of service. He was a devoted and active member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Davison. Thomas was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be missed by all.
He was the kindest and most generous man in the family. His “Nancy Faye”, children and grandchildren were his everything, always giving his love and time without question. He was an avid golfer throughout life and always shared his mother’s passion for following the Detroit Tigers.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Nancy; children, Michele Burcar and Bradley (Jillian) Burcar; grandchildren, Juliana, Maksim, Jackson “Brady” Calhoun and Nikola Burcar; siblings, Fred (Jean) Burcar, David (Frances) Burcar and Jeanne (William) Brasseur; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by parents, Julius and Helen Burcar, father and mother-in-law, Vernon and Mildred Soderbloom.
