William O’Leary

O’LEARY, William Lawrence – Of Burton, age 88, died Friday, June 16, 2023 at his residence.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 p.m. Friday, June 23, 2023 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, Father Andrew Czajkowski officiating.

Burial in New Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Wounded Warriors Project.

Visitation 4 p.m. – 8 p.m. Thursday at the Swartz Funeral Home, 1225 West Hill Road, Flint. A Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home. Visitation 11 a.m. Friday at church until the time of the Mass.

William was born in Flint, Michigan on June 10, 1935, the son of the late Basil and Myrle (Sibilsky) O’Leary. His family moved to Petoskey, Michigan where he lived for several years. 

He was a graduate of Davison High School and attended Michigan State University and the University of Michigan-Flint.  He served in the United States Army Reserves until May; 1963.

William was employed at General Motors Coldwater Road for 33 years retiring in 1994 as a staff assistant. 

William spent downtime in the outdoors by enjoying his passion for golf at the Elks Golf Course. He was an active member of his parish, and has also enjoyed trimming lawn bushes for family and friends in his retirement years.

Surviving are niece, Kathleen Cook; many nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by all of his siblings.
