Lori Hill passed away on January 5, 2025 due to injuries sustained in a car accident.
Lori was born on February 2, 1959 in Flint, Michigan. She was the daughter of Gerald and Joann Furlette and grew up in a lively and loving home alongside her siblings Deb, Jan, Larry, and Paula. Lori graduated from Davison High School in 1977 and later earned a degree in accounting from the University of Michigan Flint. Lori was an IRS agent for over 20 years and was recognized as both an accomplished professional and a devoted colleague.
Lori was a dedicated single mother to Janelle and Erik, raising her children with the loving support of her family, especially her sister Paula. Lori often expressed gratitude that her life-long best friend was also her sister. Paula helped raise Janelle and Erik, cared for Lori during her illnesses, and shared countless adventures. They recently returned from a memorable trip to Lori’s favorite place to visit – New York City – where they saw a Broadway play and explored the city.
Lori was the epitome of a fighter and her 12-year battle with cancer and other health challenges never broke her spirit or kept her down for long. She faced life challenges with remarkable strength, grace, and resilience, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who knew her. Her perseverance was matched only by her love for her family, particularly her grandchildren Izzy, Ari, and Barrett who lit up her world.
Lori loved her family deeply and enjoyed nothing more than to spend time with them. She was an avid reader, a proud Michigan Wolverines fan, and loved searching for treasures at thrift stores or garage sales. She loved summers in her swimming pool with family and enjoyed theatre and live performances. Lori deeply cared for animals and left behind her beloved pets, Scarlett, Belle, and Jada who were always considered members of the family. These passions, along with her generosity and care for others, enriched her life and those around her.
Lori will be profoundly missed by her mother, Joann Furlette; her children, Janelle Fosler and Erik (Leigh) Hill; her siblings Deb (Jack) Applin, Janet (John Lucas) Furlette, and Paula Furlette; her grandchildren Izzy, Ari, and Barrett; her niece Samantha (Michael Anderson) Farmer and nephew William Farmer; and countless cherished extended family members and friends. Lori was preceded in death by her father, Gerald “Jerry” Furlette and her brother Larry Furlette, whose memories she held close to heart.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 1:00 pm Monday May 5, 2025 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church 404 Dayton St. Davison, private burial in St. John Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date. Friends wishing to stay updated on the arrangements are encouraged to email Janelle at foslerjanelle@gmail.com.
