Leslie “Sue” Strump, age 69, of Lapeer, Michigan, died Thursday, September 10, 2026 at Devonshire Retirement Village of Lapeer, MI. Leslie Susan Westerfield was born October 25, 1956 in Warren, MI. She is the daughter of the late Bobby Westerfield and the late Thelda “Judy” (Renfrow) Holly.
Sue was a graduate of Imlay City High School, Class of 1974. Sue continued her education at Mott Community College earning her Associate’s degree and then attended Spring Arbor College, earning a Bachelor of Science and her Master’s degree in Counseling. She married Anthony “Tony” Strump on September 14, 2000 in Lapeer, Michigan.
Sue was employed as a School Counselor by North Branch Schools. Before being employed by North Branch Schools, Sue was employed as a counselor by the Flint Bendle Schools Consortium and as a secretary by Lapeer Community Schools. Sue loved her children and family. She had dreams of traveling with her husband, Tony.
Sue is survived by: her husband, Tony Strump of Lapeer, MI; daughter, Leslie Castaneda of Los Collinas, Texas; and her sons, Dan (Heather) Galvan of Midlothian, Texas and Steven (Mallory) Galvan of Krugerville, Texas. Sue is also survived by: her sisters, Koneta “Konnie” (Jerry) Smith, Kelly Holly, Kerry (Glenn) Waters and Judy Toutant; brothers, Steven (Barb) Westerfield and Robby Westerfield; and her grandchildren, Brooke, Ashley, Ellis, Decklyn, Carson, and Daly. Sue was preceded in death by her mother and dad: Judy and (& Ed) Holly and by her father; and brothers: Bobby Westerfield and Barry Westerfield.
A Memorial Funeral Mass for Sue is being planned for 11:00 am Saturday, October 24, 2026 at St. John the Evangelist, 404 N. Dayton Street, Davison, 48423. There will be visiting there at the church with the family from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
