Kay Bastianelli was born on May 19, 1931, in Detroit, MI, the beloved daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Chartrand) Sorrentino. She married the love of her life, Joseph Bastianelli, on June 5, 1953, in Detroit. They shared many wonderful years together until his passing on December 23, 1979. Kay was a vibrant, well-known figure in the Davison community, especially cherished for her decades of service at Rite Aid, where she worked for over 40 years. Her warmth, kindness, and sharp wit left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She had a true zest for life and found joy in the simple pleasures—long walks, tending to her lawn, and spending treasured time with her grandchildren. Kay loved family trips Up North, visiting the casino to try her luck at penny slots, and indulging in her favorite treats—especially chocolate and popcorn.
Always active and engaged, Kay was quick-witted, funny, and deeply caring. She had a unique gift for remembering the smallest details about people, making everyone feel seen and valued. She never spoke an unkind word about anyone and lived her life with grace and generosity. Kay will be remembered for her loving spirit, her gentle humor, and the joy she brought to those around her.
Kay is survived by children: Sue (Don) Carmer, John (Julie) Bastianelli, Tony (Luane) Bastianelli, and Jim (Therena) Bastianelli; grandchildren: Stephanie, Cristina, Michael, Amanda, Dominic, Joey, Zachary, Joseph, Logan, and Jimmy; great grandchildren: Ella, Addyson, Camryn, Palmer, Gianna, Emberly, Addley, LaZara, Miggy, and Zophia; siblings: Dorothy, Jim and Tom; many other loving family members and friends.
