Arthur Horton

HORTON, Arthur J. – of Davison, age 91, passed away on January 2, 2025. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 12 PM on Friday, January 17, 2025 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski, celebrant. The family will receive visitors Thursday, January 16, 2025 at 4 – 7 PM at Allen Funeral Home, 9236 Davison Road, Davison, Michigan, and again, one half hour before Mass, beginning at 11:30 AM at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carriage Town Ministries in Flint or St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church.

Arthur Horton was born on March 18, 1933, in Otisville, Michigan, to the late Arthur and Julia (Kocsis) Horton. On September 17, 1955, he married the love of his life, Betty Huskins, in Essexville, Michigan. Together, they built a legacy of love, raising five children with a balance of discipline and care. Arthur proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and went on to enjoy a successful career at General Motors, where he retired after many years of dedicated service. A man of boundless energy and curiosity, Arthur was an avid mountain biker until the age of 80 and an enthusiastic downhill skier throughout his retirement years. He had a deep love for the water, spending countless hours with his family enjoying water activities. After retiring, Arthur and Betty embarked on adventures around the world, traveling to places like Italy, Germany, and Great Britain. He was immensely proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, cherishing the time spent with his growing family. Known for his engineering mind, Arthur had a knack for fixing anything. His problem-solving skills and determination were admired by all who knew him. He was a longtime member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, where his faith and sense of community were central to his life. Arthur leaves behind a legacy of love, perseverance, and adventure. His memory will be cherished by all who were fortunate to know him.

Arthur is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Betty Horton; children: Cathy (David) Frazee, Jeffery (Kathy) Horton, Robert (Elizabeth) Horton, James (Kris) Horton, and Mary Hudson; grandchildren: Nicholas Horton, Nicole Ruiz, Natalie Winans, Noelle (Jason) Brown, Max (Katie) Hudson, Brian (Ashley) Hudson, Ashley (Jacob) Mendez, Audrey (Jonn) Eidem, Avery Horton, Brooks Horton, and Craig Frazee; 10 great grandchildren; siblings: Thomas (JoAnn) Horton and Susan Peterson; and many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by both parents, Arthur and Julia Horton.

The family wishes to express deep appreciation to Gentiva Hospice, especially Tanea Edwards, who was Arthur’s angel the last five months. They also want to thank Ayana and Aleah from Right at Home for their kind and skilled care.
