JOHNSON, Frederick Duane, of Burton, MI – age 87, departed his earthly life Tuesday, February 4, 2025, peacefully surrounded by his family. Cremation has taken place, and a memorial mass will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Davison at a later date.

Fred was born to James and Margaret Johnson on October 28, 1937, in Flint, MI. He went to Sacred Heart School, where he met and married his high school sweetheart, Mary Agnes Figula. They were happily married for 67 years.  Fred began working as a plumber and started Fred Johnson  Plumbing in 1966, which flourished for many years until he retired at age 75.  Fred was a generous and selfless man.  He helped many in need.  He and Mary enjoyed traveling with family and friends. His happy place was the cabin at Higgins Lake, where he was almost every weekend doing what he loved- sailing.   During the winters he enjoyed being warm in Sarasota, Florida. Fred leaves behind a legacy of hard work, love and many special memories with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. He used to say proudly, “Mary, look at what we started” when the family was all together.

Fred leaves behind children, Maureen (Randy) Darling,  Fred Jr. (Connie) Johnson, Tina (John) Conley, Tim (Lori) Johnson, Colleen (Marc) Brooke;  15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Margaret Johnson; his wife, Mary Johnson; and grandson, Beau Curtis.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to “Irelands Dream”, which is being built behind Fred’s Assisted Living for Children with cerebral palsy in Fred’s memory.
