GUERTIN, Kenneth E. and Mary J. “Jackie” – both of Davison, MI. Kenneth, age 94, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025, and Jackie, age 90, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 PM Friday, March 7, 2025 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton St., Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Interment will take place following the Mass at St. John Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 4-7 PM Thursday, March 6, 2025 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the Mass, on Friday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John Catholic Church or Right to Life.
Kenneth was born in Sarnia, Ontario on June 11, 1930, son of the late Percy and Ethel (Redding) Guertin. He married Mary Jacqueline Coveny on November 26, 1955, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wallaceburg, Ontario. Ken was very active in St John’s Catholic church in Davison as a member of the Men’s club, resurrection choir and alter server. He retired from AC Spark Plug in Flint Michigan as a Tool and Die Maker in 1992 after approximately 30 years.
Ken is survived by his sister, Barbara Lee, he was preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Jones, brothers, Bruce and Tom Guertin.
Jackie was born in Chatham, Ontario on April 5, 1934, daughter of the late Martel and Ethel (Higginson) Coveny. She graduated from St. Joseph Hospital Nursing School in Chatham, Ontario as an RN. Jackie married Kenneth Edward Guertin on November 26, 1955, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Wallaceburg, Ontario. He preceded her in death on February 24, 2025. Jackie was also very active in St John’s Catholic church in Davison as a past President of the Altar Society, member of St. Theresa’s Guild, member of World Apostolate of Fatima, past Girl Scout Leader, reader at daily Mass and resurrection choir. Jackie retired in 1992, as a Registered Nurse from St. Joseph’s Hospital in Flint Michigan after 21 years and another 10 years of nursing in Wallaceburg, Ontario.
Jackie is survived by 5 sisters, Mary Catherine Aarssen, Margaret Ann Luciuk, Maureen (Bill) Davis, Clair Marie Cadotte and Carmen (Tony) Myers. She was preceded in death her by brothers, Paul and John Coveny, sisters, Patricia Foster and Marian Coveny.
Ken and Jackie celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary in November of 2024. They have been inseparable since they met as young adults at the Wallaceburg memorial ice arena and both passed into eternal life within a few days of one another.
Kenneth and Jackie are survived by children, David, Christopher (Kathy), Joseph (Lisa), Mary (Ken) Warren and Theresa (Will) Gallivan; grandchildren, Clair Guertin, Allison (Clayton) Sears, Megan (Mike) Jones, Cole Guertin, Grayson Guertin, Carmen (Nick) Lehnert, Kelsey (Stephen) Atkinson, Steven Guertin, Ben Warren, Landon (Victoria) Warren, Liam Gallivan and Hunter Gallivan; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, many other loving family members and friends. They were preceded in death by daughter, Ann Guertin-Troutt; son, Patrick Guertin and daughter-in-law, Sandy Guertin.
