WORTHING, Wesley – of Metamora, MI, age 77, passed away on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 1 PM Saturday, July 26, 2025, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Cremation will take place following the Mass. The family will receive visitors from 3 – 7 PM on Friday, July 25, 2025, at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and one hour prior to the Mass on Saturday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed at the funeral home on Friday at 6 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Hope Lodge, 11432 Mayfield Road, Cleveland, OH 44106 or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Wesley was born in Flint, MI on March 24, 1948, son of late William and Doris (Babcock) Worthing. He married Nancy J. Sperla on April 23, 1966, at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Flint. He worked as a master plumber and pipe fitter, serving on the board for Local 370 Plumbers and Fitters. Wes served as the family patriarch, helping to raise his seven sisters and one brother. He built both of his family homes. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing, hunting, and golfing. You could find him at his cabin boating, or in his pole barn working on projects. His family will forever treasure vacations in Daytona Beach, playing in the ocean and summers at Cat Lake. Wes served as president of the Lake Lapeer Association. He was passionate about sharing his knowledge and skills with family and young people. Wes was a loyal friend, fostering relationships from his youth until the very end. The legacy he built with Nancy over 6 decades will continue to live on through his family grounded in love, commitment and hard work.
Wesley is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Nancy; his adoring children, Wendy (Tom) Ruhlman, Amy Worthing (Linda Mummaw), Matthew (Karrie) Worthing; cherished grandchildren, Alyssa (Joel) Chronowski, Alexis (Justin) Kerr, Kylie, Hailey, Ellie Worthing; one great-granddaughter, Carter Chronowski; siblings, Becky (Ted) Wood, Vivian (Bob) Barto, Bill (Karen) Worthing, Bethany (David) Nash, Mary (John) Kalo, Dinah Putnam, Johna (Thomas) Carroll, Barbara (Donald) Mullaney; many nephews, nieces and other loving family members and special friends, Mike and Judy Ehrmantraut. He was preceded in death by his parents William Worthing and Doris West.
