Janis L. (Stockdale) Muckenthaler, age 89, of Davison, MI (formerly of Goodrich & Prescott, MI), died June 27, 2024 at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint.
Beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
Janis was a devoted life-long Catholic who served her community in many ways. She was a founding member of both the Most Blessed Sacrament Legion of Mary, and the Rosary Makers Guild which made rosaries that were sent around the world. Janis was also a Eucharistic Minister and took communion to home-bound members of the community. She was a lay member of the Order of St. Francis, participated in her church census, volunteered at her church’s annual festival, and many other church activities. Janis was also a volunteer Boy Scout troop leader.
Janis loved her large family, which included her pet cats. She was a life-long learner who enjoyed learning about other people and places. She enjoyed parties, playing UNO, and watching wildlife. Her greatest gifts to those around her were her kindness, patience, and gift of faith. She had a great sense of humor.
Janis was preceded in death by her husband and two of her 9 children. She will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be July 19th, 2024, 11:00am-12:00pm at Most Blessed Sacrament Church, followed by a funeral mass at 12:00. (6340 Roberta St, Burton, MI). Rev. Andrew A. Czajkowski, celebrant.
A Celebration of Life will take place at the Whittemore Chamber of Commerce Hall on July 20th at 11:00am – 1:30pm. (405 E. Sherman St, Whittemore, MI).
Burial will be at the St. James’ Catholic Cemetary, Whittemore, MI on July 20th at 2:00pm. (M-65, Whittemore, MI).
