COUGHLIN, Rosa Agnes (Miller) – of Davison, MI, age 101, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 PM Thursday, September 12, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski and Rev. Fr. Kenneth F. Coughlin concelebrating. Interment immediately following the Mass in St. John Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 11 AM-7 PM Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423 and 12-1 PM Thursday, September 12, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed 5 PM Wednesday, September 11, 2024 followed by a Memorial Service conducted under the auspices of the Daughters of Isabella Regina Coeli Circle, Davison #1095 at Allen Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, in Rosa’s memory.
Rosa was born in Montrose, MI on August 26, 1923, daughter of the late James and Agnes (Benes) Miller. Rosa’s life was marked by devotion and service. On June 28, 1947, she married Edward Coughlin in Shepherd, MI. They shared a loving marriage until Edward’s passing on November 19, 2011. Rosa’s faith was a cornerstone of her life, reflected in her active participation in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, where she was a cherished member of the Daughters of Isabella Regina Coeli Circle, Davison #1095, and a devoted member of the Blue Army of Our Lady of Fatima. A proud graduate of Shepherd High School, Rosa furthered her education with a teaching degree from what is now Central Michigan University. Her career began as a bookkeeper at General Motors, but her true passion lay in education and service. Rosa touched many lives as a substitute teacher and through her work teaching religious classes. Her deep commitment to prayer was evident in her regular Rosary recitations and her dedication to her faith. Rosa enjoyed a fulfilling life surrounded by her family. Her hobbies included crocheting and knitting, activities she approached with the same warmth and care she extended to all around her. Her legacy of kindness, faith, and devotion will be cherished by all who knew her. Rosa is survived by her loving family and many dear friends who will remember her fondly. Her gentle spirit and unwavering faith will be missed deeply. May she rest in peace, embraced by the eternal love she so freely gave.
Rosa is survived by 7 loving children, Robert Coughlin, Joyce Loren, Wenzel (Laura) Coughlin, Barb (Larry) Axtell, Eddie (Mary Lynn) Coughlin, Andy (Lynn) Coughlin and Kathy Coughlin; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; many other loving family members and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Agnes Miller; husband, Edward Coughlin; daughter, Joan Iliev; granddaughter, Veronica; son-in-law, Clint Loren; daughter-in-law, Lee Coughlin; 2 siblings, Wenzel Miller and Mary Coughlin.
