Doreen Romzek

ROMZEK, Doreen Claire (Pillow) – of Davison, age 90, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Monday, November 11, 2024. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and devoted servant of God. Doreen was a lifelong devout Catholic and a dedicated stay-at-home mother to 14 children, whose unwavering love, strength, and faith were the foundation of her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 PM on Monday, November 18, 2024 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 6340 Roberta Street, Burton, MI 48509; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Interment will immediately follow in St. John Catholic Cemetery. The family will welcome visitors from 2 – 7 PM on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at Allen Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Road, Davison, MI 48423. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the Mass on Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. A Rosary will be prayed at 6 PM on Sunday at Allen Funeral Home. 

Born on October 7, 1934, in Cleveland, Ohio, Doreen was the daughter of the late Carroll and Lucille (Kruska) Pillow. She married the love of her life, Robert Romzek, on October 29, 1955, and together they created a loving and boisterous family centered on faith, kindness, and devotion to one another. Their marriage, which spanned 50 years, was a beautiful testament to love and commitment. Bob preceded her in death on February 3, 2006. 

As a mother, Doreen’s devotion knew no bounds. She poured her heart and soul into raising her 14 children, always ensuring they were loved, cared for, and guided with faith. No matter how full her days were, there was always food on the table, a listening ear, and a prayer for each child. Her home was a place of warmth, comfort, and security, where faith was the center of her life. 

Doreen’s Catholic faith was her life’s guiding light. She and Bob were founding and dedicated members of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, where she regularly attended Mass, volunteered her time, and helped others in any way she could. They could be found every Sunday after 8am mass enjoying coffee and doughnuts with their friends. Doreen’s love for God and her family was evident in every aspect of her life. She lived her faith through acts of charity, kindness, and selflessness, always finding ways to serve. 

Doreen is survived by her 14 children: Catherine, Bernardine, Patrick (Marilyn), Laurie (Nazih) Hazime, Mark (Rachel), Philip (Bonnie), Joseph, Timothy (Christina), John, Nadine (Thomas) Ottoson, Daniel, Martin, Christopher (Annemarie), and Colleen (Mark) Niemara.

She was also the proud grandmother of 32 grandchildren: Nicholas, Erik (Britni), Andrew, Robert (Madeline), Rebecca (Tomas), Nolan (Candice), Lauren (Absalon), Madelyn, Matthew (Jessica), Seth, Gabriel (Kristen), Amelia, Anthony, Paul, Emily, Nina, Joseph, Anthony, Noah, Michael, Samuel, Rachel, Aidan, Stephen, Mitchell, Aaron, Leah, Cameron, August, Adelaide, Emma, and Nora. 

Doreen was blessed with 6 great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Alice, Charlotte, Penelope, Tomas, and Jack, plus two additional great-grandchildren to be expected in the Spring. 

Each of Doreen’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a great source of joy to her. 

Doreen is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bob, her parents, and her siblings, Jeraine Thompson, Robert Pillow, Donna Collins and Craig Pillow. 

Doreen’s life reflected God’s love and grace and a never-ending devotion to her faith. Her legacy of faith, family, and selfless service will continue to inspire all who knew her. The family is comforted to know that she is reunited with the love of her life, Bob, and enjoying the blessings of her eternal reward. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the everlasting embrace of God, the Angels and Saints, and the admiration and love of her family here on earth.
