Art was born in Detroit, MI on March 14, 1929, son of the late Michael and Viola (Doran) Magolan.
He was a graduate of St. Florian Catholic High School in Hamtramck, MI, where he played varsity football. Art honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951-1953. On September 10, 1955, Art married the love of his life, Stella Kosin, at Queen of Apostles Catholic Church in Hamtramck, MI. Together they built a loving marriage and a lifetime of cherished memories. Art dedicated 40 years of his career to the Chrysler Corporation, where he worked as a skilled draftsman until his retirement in October 1989. His strong work ethic, attention to detail, and commitment to excellence were evident in everything he accomplished. A faithful member and usher at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Art lived his faith through quiet acts of service and devotion. He was also a proud member of the Knights of Columbus, where he enjoyed the fellowship of his community. Art embraced life with endless energy and enthusiasm. Whether he was golfing, bowling, boating, water skiing, ice skating, swimming, or flying remote-control airplanes and drones, he was happiest when staying active and trying something new. There was seemingly nothing he couldn’t repair. Gifted with remarkable ingenuity and craftsmanship, he could solve almost any problem with his own hands. One of his greatest accomplishments was building the family’s summer cottage, a place that became the backdrop for countless treasured memories. Art was a man who simply never stopped moving. He was always working on a project, helping someone in need, or finding a way to improve something around him. His determination, resourcefulness, and generous spirit left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. More than anything, Art will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his tireless work ethic, and a life well lived with purpose, faith, and love.
Art is survived by his wife, Stella Magolan; 4 children, Camille (Dennis) Gepfrey, Monica (Gary) Sallans, Kevin (Luann) Magolan and Allen (Deirdre) Magolan; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; many other loving family members, good friends and neighbors. He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Viola Magolan, and his siblings.
