Joe was born July 15, 1933, in Detroit to the late Joseph Oscar Pomaville Sr. and Beatrice Marcella (Lauhoff) Pomaville. A lifelong Catholic and proud product of Detroit Catholic schools, Joe grew up working in his father’s neighborhood market and later managed sales and delivery for Taystee Bread, winning many awards.. He married his high school sweetheart, Loretta (Lori) Chauvin on August 19, 1953; the couple raised five children and shared many family vacations and holiday traditions with extended family. After losing Lori to cancer in 1997, Joe reconnected with a childhood friend and found love again with Fran, with whom he enjoyed global travel and community service in his later years. Joe and Fran were married August 28, 1998.

Joe was known for his kindness, steady faith and tireless service. He was active as an usher and eucharistic minister at St. Thecla, and led the Teen Club with Lori in the 70’s. In his later years, he and Fran led St. Vincent de Paul activities, and volunteered in prison ministry for more than two decades at the Thumb Correctional Facility in Lapeer. Joe and Fran loved hosting annual summer gatherings at Winn Lake and Holiday family celebrations at Frankenmuth, bringing both families together. Joe was known for encouraging and cheering on his children and grandchildren at their many events, and he loved table tennis, fishing, and the simple pleasures of home – home and car repairs, baking bread, growing roses and raspberries, and always sporting a warm smile and joyful laugh.

Joe is survived by his wife, Frances Ann Pomaville; children: Ann Patrice (Robert Castle) Pomaville, Thomas Joseph (Tami) Pomaville, Julie Terése (Alan Ozias) Pomaville and Carrie Michele (Kurt) Odrobina; 11 grandchildren, Sarah, Kenneth, Jaime, Noelle, Alicia, Kyle, Joseph, Erika, Marc, Alec, and Renée; and 18 great-grandchildren; as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends who will miss his gentle humor and generous heart. Joe was also an honorary father to 8 Cormier children, David, Rachel, Steven, Thomas, Gerald, Lawrence, Nathan, Joel; 20 step-grandchildren; and 14 step-great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his daughter Susan Marie Pomaville and his first wife, Loretta Ann (Chauvin) Pomaville; sister, Beatrice Haffey; and a brother, Francis Pomaville.

A life of quiet generosity, faith and family – Joe’s legacy will live on in the countless lives he touched. Messages of condolence may be sent to the family at www.allenfuneralhomeinc.com.
