SAMARZIYA, Michael John – of Lapeer, MI, age 79, passed away Friday, July 10, 2026. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 PM on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Interment in Mt. Hope Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church from 11 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Health Oakland Hospital, in Michael’s memory.
Michael was born in Detroit, Michigan, on March 19, 1947, to the late Peter and Mildred (Prell) Samarziya. He married Lorraine Marie (Tencza) Krolczyk on May 30, 1999, in Frankenmuth, Michigan. Together they shared many happy years of marriage until Lorraine’s passing on July 4, 2026. Michael retired from Chrysler Corporation following a career as a Project Analyst. He was a devoted member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Davison, Michigan. Michael had a passion for model trains and radio-controlled airplanes. He and Lorraine took great pride in creating and maintaining a beautiful yard, a reflection of the care they shared for their home. A talented handyman, Mike enjoyed building, remodeling, and improving their home with his own hands. Together, he and Lorraine also cherished traveling the country in their RV, creating lasting memories on many road trips.
Mike is survived by his 2 children, Jeffrey (Nicole) Samarziya and Susanne (Al) Toole; 2 step-children, Jeannie Croket and Lisa (Aaron) Lehr; grandchildren, Jacob Croket, Shane Toole, Charlize Lehr and Christian Lehr; brother, Raymond (Freida) Samarziya; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Mildred Samarziya and his wife, Lorraine Samarziya.
