It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Gean Selley, on November 4 at the age of 98. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend. Her presence will be profoundly missed by all who knew her.
Gean was born in Flint, Michigan on July 12, 1926, the daughter of the late Charles and Genevieve (Horden) Davis. Gean married Walter “Bud” Selley in 1946 in Flint and they enjoyed 62 years together before his passing. Gean loved to cook and loved to host her family for countless family celebrations. She worked in catering for many years including the Flint Masonic Temple dining room. Her home was a place of warmth and laughter and her legacy will live on in the lives she shaped. Gean traveled the world together with her friends and family and was also known to enjoy a trip or two to the casino.
Surviving are children, Sue Thayer and Scott (Karen) Selley. Grandchildren, Mike (Dina) Thayer, Stacy (Dave) Staehli, Ryan (Ashley) Selley and Erica (Jack) Zito. Great-grandchildren, Alexis, Alyssa, Matt, Ally, Christopher, Olivia, Bo and Enzo. Great-great-grandchildren, Ayra, Cole, Asher and many other family members and dear friends who cherished her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Selley, daughter Sandra Palmiter and brother Sheldon Davis.
Though we are heartbroken to say goodbye, we take comfort knowing that Gean’s love will remain with us forever.
