Patrick Richard “Pat” Coger of Lapeer, age 75, died Thursday August 1, 2024 at the residence. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday August 9, 2024 at Hansen Funeral Home Groves Chapel, downtown Davison. Deacon Dan Fairweather officiating: with burial in St. John Cemetery. Family will receive visitors from 12:00 noon Friday August 9, 2024 until time of services at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions in Pat’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Amyloid Foundation.
Pat was born in Flint Michigan on October 27, 1948 the son of the late Coval and Grace (Malfa) Coger and has resided in the Lapeer area most of his life. Patrick was a graduate of Flint Central High School Class of 1966. He was joined in marriage to Sharon Handy on October 26, 1967, Sharon preceded him in death on September 23, 2022. Answering the call of his country Pat proudly served in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He had a passion for classic cars and was a proud owner of a 1958 Chevrolet Impala that he took to area car shows. He loved working with his hands and was an excellent woodworker. In later years he found peace in bird watching. He spent over thirty-years with General Motors Fisher Body and Delphi Divisions.
He is survived by sons: Curtis (Tiffany) Coger, Tony Coger, his grandchildren: Jada, Fionna, Autumn, Olivia, and his great grandchild Kegan. He also leaves brother Dan Coger, and sister Marti (Don) Elliott, half-brothers: Mike Patten, Brian Patten, Tommy Patten, and half-sister Michelle Patten. He also leaves numerous extended family and friends. Pat is preceded in death by sister Karen Coger, brothers, Jim Coger, Al Coger, Jerry Coger, sister-in-law Trisha Coger, step-sister Diane Riley, and step-brother Rodney Riley.
