Dolores Bykowski

Dolores Helen (Wiencus) Bykowski of Lapeer, MI, formerly of Warren MI, age 89, peacefully joined her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday February 1, 2024.

Dolores was born in Detroit, MI on March 18,1934 to John and Antonina Wiencus. She graduated from St. Ladislaus High School and went on to attend post-high school classes in business administration. Dolores married her first love William Bykowski on May 5, 1962 in Hamtramck, MI and were happily married for 40 years until William’s passing in 2002. Dolores worked as an administrative assistant to various judges in the Detroit metropolitan area before becoming a homemaker for her husband Bill after their marriage. She loved helping others and joined the Ladies Sodality of the Catholic Church as well as the Council of Catholic Women of the Archdiocese of Detroit. She also devoted many countless hours as a volunteer at St. John Hospital Macomb. Dolores spent much of her days working in her garden, taking long walks or socializing with her neighbors. She will always be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit and positive attitude.

Dolores was preceded in death by her loving husband William Bykowski and her younger sister Irene Wiencus Barnes. She is survived by her youngest sister, Janet Wiencus Ferrari and brother-in-law Edward Ferrari. She was a cherished aunt to 5 nieces and 1 nephew: James (Lisa) Ferrari, Gina (Tom) Conlon, Nina (Charles) Yankee, Tina (Eric) Anderson, Christina (David) Evans, and Dina (Bradley) Harris. She was a great aunt to 16 nieces and nephews and a great-great-aunt to 4 nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 North Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423 at 12 PM; Rev. Fr. Andrew A. Czajkowski celebrant. Visitation will be held at the church from 11 AM-12 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Council of Catholic Women.
