STOHON, Catherine Marie (Olsick) – of Prescott, MI, age 96, passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1 PM, Monday, March 25, 2024, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N. Dayton Street, Davison, MI 48423; Rev. Fr. Dieudonne Ntakarutimana, celebrant. Interment in Meadowview Memorial Gardens will take place following the Mass. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in Katie’s memory.
Catherine was born in Altoona, PA on January 12, 1928, daughter of the late Joseph and Helen (Gides) Olsick. She married Peter A. Stohon on January 25, 1947, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Cambria County, PA and he preceded her in death on December 27, 2017. Katie was a phenomenal baker, especially Polish dishes. She was also a talented home decorator, from design to flower arranging. Katie loved to visit the casino, especially when she won. Her greatest joy was found in spending time with her family, who will miss her dearly.
Katie is survived by her children, Pete J. (Carol) Stohon and Susanne Chilner; daughter-in-law, Karen Stohon; grandchildren, John Paul (Marcy) Stohon, Jodi (Bob) Kietzman, Jenny (Jason) Dixon, Jacob (Sarah) Stohon, Donald Chilner, Luke Chilner, Mark Stohon, Peter M. Stohon and David Stohon; great-grandchildren, Kristina (Mike) Hibbard, Angela (Mike) Powell, Gary Stohon, Amanda Stohon, Olivia Stohon, Drew Stohon, Alex Stohon, Luke Chilner II, Aiden Chilner, Landon, Kyle Stohon, Jayden Stohon, Robert Kietzman, Andrew Kietzman, Kathryn Kietzman, Isaac Dixon, Isabella Dixon and; three great-great-grandchild, Elaina and Samuel Powell and Roman Stohon; many other loving family and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Katie was preceded in death by her son, John Stohon and granddaughter, Jill Stohon.
