Rosita Curtis

Rosita “Rose” Genoveva (Freire) Curtis, 86, of Davison, MI passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her family on Sunday, June 2, 2024. Rose was born on June 15, 1937 to Enrique and Maria Freire in Quito, Ecuador (South America). After Rose graduated from high school she came to the United States and soon met the love of her life, Richard in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where Richard was serving in the United States Air Force. Richard and Rose married on July 23rd, 1960 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Burton, MI. Rose and Richard went on to have three children, Lee (Lisa), Dean and Susan (Ramiro) and have 6 grandchildren, Romy, Joslyn, Hannah, Kaitlyn, Dillon and Megan and 1 great granddaughter, Lily. Rose loved her husband and family above all things. A devote Catholic and accomplished seamstress, she loved cooking, gardening, music, dancing and a juicy steak with a good glass of red wine. In her younger years, Rose and Richard would jump on their motorcycle and head to Cedar Point with their other motorcycling friends. A lover of nature, she enjoyed camping with her family and always found a way to create a gourmet meal at one of Michigan’s many camp sites. Rose also worked as a seamstress at the Hyatt Regency Flint during the 80’s and for many of the on air personalities at Channel 12 throughout the years. Rose’s generosity extended to everyone she ever met, and her dinner tables were often filled with strangers and family alike. Rose’s laugh, smile and love of life were infectious. Her friendliness and kindness to all people and her devotion and love for her family and friends are a tribute to the beauty of her heart and soul. She will be deeply missed by all that had the privilege of knowing and loving her. Rose is survived by her husband Richard and siblings, Rueben, Fernando, Julio, Margoth, Josefina and Enrique Jr. Memorial Mass will be held 1:00 PM on Friday, June 7, 2024 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 404 N.
