Warren Birkenhauer

Warren D. Birkenhauer, age 74, lifelong Lapeer Area resident, formerly of Attica, died Monday, June 3, 2024. He was born September 8, 1949 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan, to Joseph Peter and Myrtle Elizabeth (Goodrich) Birkenhauer.

Warren graduated in 1967 from Lapeer High School. He married Susan Anne Finch on August 22, 1980, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Mt. Morris. Mr. Birkenhauer worked over 40 years for General Motors, retiring in 2008. First he worked as a tool & die maker at the Pontiac Truck & Bus Plant and then a metal model maker at the Tech Center in Warren. Mr. and Mrs. Birkenhauer were members of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Davison. Warren was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #4090 in Davison. He played in many golf leagues at Rolling Hills Golf Course and for many many years played in a “blooper ball” league in Brown City. Warren enjoyed fishing and went on a number of “fly-in” fishing trips to Canada, he really had a great time. He was an avid reader and loved to save a few dollars clipping coupons, often sharing his coupons with family members. Family was everything to Warren. He loved those grandchildren with all his heart! He could not wait to get out of the hospital, so he could see his grandchildren. Mr. Birkenhauer was always a social person, who talked to anyone and was always happy to lend a helping hand to friends or strangers. The family said: “He was just a nice human being. A people person…sincere, humble, kind and charitable.”

Warren is survived by his wife: Susan; children: David (Renee) Birkenhauer of Lapeer, Lisa (Eric) Wiesner of West Bloomfield, Sarah (Lisa Case) Birkenhauer of Goulais River, Ontario, Canada; Rebecca (Jayson) Wilkins of Battlefield, Missouri; and Warren (Gina) Birkenhauer, II of Lapeer; grandchildren: Ashley, Kristina, Victoria, Nicole, Michael, Kaleb, Connor, Jack, Aaliyah, Isaiah, Maximus, Titus and Grace; great-grandchildren: Arianna, Braelynn, Kinsley and River; siblings: Faye Rickus of Grand Rapids and Thomas (Linda) Birkenhauer of Grand Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph & Myrtle Birkenhauer; and siblings: Susanna Merrow and Joseph Birkenhauer.

Visitation will be 4-8PM Monday, June 10, 2024, at Muir Brothers Funeral Home in Lapeer. The Rosary will be prayed 7PM Monday at the funeral home. The family will also receive friends from Noon-1PM Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at St. John the Evangelist Church in Davison. Warren’s funeral Mass will be 1PM Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at the church. Burial will follow immediately at St. John Cemetery in Davison. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eastern Michigan Food Bank or WMPC Christian Radio.
